Russia has a very high suicide rate

By 1993, suicides in Russia increased by 10,011 people to at 56,136 suicides In 1993, on average 154 Russians committed suicide every day.

In Russia there were 37.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.86 suicides per 100,000 people.

Russia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 56,136 recorded suicide cases in 1993, 46,016 were men suicides and 10,120 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 66.1 per 100,000 men and for women 12.8 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Russia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 45,060 homicides in Russia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.2 suicides.
