Suicides increase in Qatar

In 2012 occurred 140 suicides in Qatar. This year, 1 more people committed suicide than in 2011.

Qatar had 7.66 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.87 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 140 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 135 were men suicides and 5 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.54 per 100,000 men and for women 1.08 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Qatar suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 7 homicides in Qatar, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 20 suicides.
