Peru has a low suicide rate

In 1996 around 381 suicides occurred in Peru, 13 more than in 1995. In Peru, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Peru reported 1.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.06 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Peru has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 381 recorded suicide cases in 1996, 228 were men suicides and 153 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 1.8 per 100,000 men and for women 1.2 per 100,000 female.
