Suicides grow in Panama

By 2012, suicides in Panama increased by 7 people to at 202 suicides

In Panama there were 5.32 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.87 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 202 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 181 were men suicides and 21 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.6 per 100,000 men and for women 1.13 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Panama. However, in Panama in 2012 there were there were 637 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 3.2 homicides per suicide.
