Suicides fell in Panama

By 2011, suicides in Panama increased by 14 people to at 195 suicides

In Panama there were 5.24 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 195 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 171 were men suicides and 24 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.26 per 100,000 men and for women 1.3 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Panama. However, in Panama in 2011 there were there were 549 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.8 homicides per suicide.
