In 1993 occurred 1,555 suicides in Netherlands. This year, 32 fewer people committed suicide than in 1992. In 1993, on average 4 Dutch committed suicide every day.

Netherlands had 10.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.86 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,555 recorded suicide cases in 1993, 1,020 were men suicides and 535 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.5 per 100,000 men and for women 6.9 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Netherlands suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 192 homicides in Netherlands, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.1 suicides.
