Suicides decreased in Namibia

In 2011 around 186 suicides occurred in Namibia, 5 less than in 2010.

Namibia reported 8.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 186 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 142 were men suicides and 44 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.8 per 100,000 men and for women 3.99 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Namibia. However, in Namibia in 2011 there were there were 308 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.7 homicides per suicide.
