Suicides increase in Namibia

In 2010 occurred 191 suicides in Namibia. This year, 9 more people committed suicide than in 2009.

Namibia had 9.17 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.89 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 191 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 146 were men suicides and 45 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.39 per 100,000 men and for women 4.15 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Namibia. However, in Namibia in 2010 there were there were 314 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.6 homicides per suicide.
