Number of suicides increases in Montenegro

In 2011 around 72 suicides occurred in Montenegro, 4 more than in 2010.

Montenegro reported 11.65 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.82 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 72 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 49 were men suicides and 23 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.04 per 100,000 men and for women 7.37 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Montenegro suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 21 homicides in Montenegro, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.4 suicides.
