Mongolia has a very high suicide rate

In 2012 occurred 816 suicides in Mongolia. This year, 1 fewer people committed suicide than in 2011. On average, there are 2 suicides per day.

Mongolia had 28.45 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.87 suicides per 100,000 people.

Mongolia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 816 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 680 were men suicides and 136 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 48.96 per 100,000 men and for women 9.66 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Mongolia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 199 homicides in Mongolia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.1 suicides.
