Mexico had 4.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 5,718 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 4,526 were men suicides and 1,076 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8 per 100,000 men and for women 1.8 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Mexico. However, in Mexico in 2011 there were there were 27,213 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 4.8 homicides per suicide.
