In 1992 occurred 2,246 suicides in Mexico. This year, 132 more people committed suicide than in 1991. In 1992, on average 6 Mexicans committed suicide every day.

Of the 2,246 recorded suicide cases in 1992, 1,903 were men suicides and 343 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.4 per 100,000 men and for women 0.8 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Mexico. However, in Mexico in 1992 there were there were 16,594 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 7.4 homicides per suicide.
