Mexico has a low suicide rate

In 1991 occurred 2,114 suicides in Mexico. This year, 176 more people committed suicide than in 1990. In 1991, on average 6 Mexicans committed suicide every day.

Mexico had 2.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.11 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Mexico has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 2,114 recorded suicide cases in 1991, 1,799 were men suicides and 315 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.2 per 100,000 men and for women 0.7 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Mexico. However, in Mexico in 1991 there were there were 15,128 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 7.2 homicides per suicide.
