Suicides grow in Malta

By 2012, suicides in Malta increased by 6 people to at 28 suicides

In Malta there were 5.95 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.87 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 28 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 21 were men suicides and 7 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.09 per 100,000 men and for women 2.84 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Malta suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 12 homicides in Malta, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.3 suicides.
