Malta has a low suicide rate

In 1996 occurred 13 suicides in Malta. This year, 4 fewer people committed suicide than in 1995.

Malta had 3.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.06 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 13 recorded suicide cases in 1996, 10 were men suicides and 3 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.4 per 100,000 men and for women 1.6 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Malta suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 3 homicides in Malta, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.3 suicides.
