Maldives - Intentional self-harm

In 2010 occurred 33 suicides in Maldives, the same people committed suicide than in 2009.

Maldives had 10.19 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.89 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 33 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 19 were men suicides and 13 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.68 per 100,000 men and for women 8.22 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Maldives suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 6 homicides in Maldives, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.5 suicides.
