Lithuania has a very high suicide rate

By 1993, suicides in Lithuania increased by 278 people to at 1,572 suicides In 1993, on average 4 Lithuanians committed suicide every day.

In Lithuania there were 42.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.86 suicides per 100,000 people.

Lithuania has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,572 recorded suicide cases in 1993, 1,298 were men suicides and 274 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 74.6 per 100,000 men and for women 14.1 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Lithuania suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 416 homicides in Lithuania, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.8 suicides.
