Suicides grow in Liberia

By 2011, suicides in Liberia increased by 20 people to at 270 suicides

In Liberia there were 6.72 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 270 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 213 were men suicides and 57 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.31 per 100,000 men and for women 2.69 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Liberia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 161 homicides in Liberia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.7 suicides.
