Suicides grow in Liberia

By 2015, suicides in Liberia increased by 15 people to at 284 suicides

In Liberia there were 6.36 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.49 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 284 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 221 were men suicides and 63 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.65 per 100,000 men and for women 2.73 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Liberia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 135 homicides in Liberia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.1 suicides.
