Latvia has a very high suicide rate

By 1994, suicides in Latvia increased by 66 people to at 1,033 suicides On average, there are 3 suicides per day.

In Latvia there were 41 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.83 suicides per 100,000 people.

Latvia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,033 recorded suicide cases in 1994, 838 were men suicides and 195 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 71.9 per 100,000 men and for women 14.4 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Latvia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 348 homicides in Latvia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3 suicides.
