Suicides increase in Kyrgyzstan

In 2012 occurred 561 suicides in Kyrgyzstan. This year, 43 more people committed suicide than in 2011. In Kyrgyzstan, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Kyrgyzstan had 10.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.87 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 561 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 429 were men suicides and 132 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.64 per 100,000 men and for women 4.61 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Kyrgyzstan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 380 homicides in Kyrgyzstan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.5 suicides.
