Suicides increase in Kyrgyzstan

In 2011 occurred 518 suicides in Kyrgyzstan. This year, 44 more people committed suicide than in 2010. In Kyrgyzstan, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Kyrgyzstan had 9.46 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 518 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 400 were men suicides and 118 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.85 per 100,000 men and for women 4.18 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Kyrgyzstan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 467 homicides in Kyrgyzstan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.1 suicides.
