By 2011, suicides in Kenya increased by 42 people to at 2,748 suicides In 2011, on average 8 Kenyans committed suicide every day.

In Kenya there were 6.96 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,748 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 2,179 were men suicides and 570 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.28 per 100,000 men and for women 2.66 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Kenya suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,271 homicides in Kenya, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.2 suicides.
