Jamaica has a low suicide rate

By 2012, suicides in Jamaica increased by 26 people to at 40 suicides

In Jamaica there were 1.46 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.87 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Jamaica has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 40 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 35 were men suicides and 4 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 2.57 per 100,000 men and for women 0.32 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Jamaica. However, in Jamaica in 2012 there were there were 1,102 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 27.6 homicides per suicide.
