There are 12 suicides per day in Italy

In 2012 around 4,258 suicides occurred in Italy, 102 more than in 2011. In 2012, on average 12 Italians committed suicide every day.

Italy reported 6.98 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.87 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 4,258 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 3,325 were men suicides and 933 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.25 per 100,000 men and for women 2.98 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Italy suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 530 homicides in Italy, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8 suicides.
