Number of suicides falls in Israel

In 1995 occurred 360 suicides in Israel. This year, 56 fewer people committed suicide than in 1994.

Israel had 6.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.58 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Israel has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 360 recorded suicide cases in 1995, 258 were men suicides and 102 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.4 per 100,000 men and for women 3.6 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Israel suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 112 homicides in Israel, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.2 suicides.
