Suicides increase in Israel

In 1992 occurred 381 suicides in Israel. This year, 22 more people committed suicide than in 1991. In Israel, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Israel had 7.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.38 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Israel has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 381 recorded suicide cases in 1992, 278 were men suicides and 103 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.9 per 100,000 men and for women 4 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Israel suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 149 homicides in Israel, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.6 suicides.
