Suicides increase in Israel

In 1991 occurred 359 suicides in Israel. This year, 55 more people committed suicide than in 1990.

Israel had 7.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.11 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Israel has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 359 recorded suicide cases in 1991, 262 were men suicides and 97 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.7 per 100,000 men and for women 3.9 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Israel suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 112 homicides in Israel, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.2 suicides.
