In Ireland there were 10.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.89 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 490 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 389 were men suicides and 101 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.2 per 100,000 men and for women 4.4 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ireland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 54 homicides in Ireland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 9.1 suicides.
