By 2011, suicides in Indonesia increased by 181 people to at 7,367 suicides In 2011, on average 20 Indonesians committed suicide every day.

In Indonesia there were 3.04 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Indonesia, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 7,367 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 5,275 were men suicides and 2,092 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.24 per 100,000 men and for women 1.71 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Indonesia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,467 homicides in Indonesia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5 suicides.
