India is a country with a high rate of suicide.
Of the 208,648 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 115,995 were men suicides and 92,653 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.61 per 100,000 men and for women 15.05 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In India suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 47,478 homicides in India, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.4 suicides.
