There are 576 suicides per day in India

In 2010 around 210,098 suicides occurred in India, 57 more than in 2009. In 2010, on average 576 Indians committed suicide every day.

India reported 17.02 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.89 suicides per 100,000 people.

India is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 210,098 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 115,097 were men suicides and 95,001 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.94 per 100,000 men and for women 15.86 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In India suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 46,460 homicides in India, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.5 suicides.
