Suicides increase in Iceland

In 1995 occurred 27 suicides in Iceland. This year, 2 more people committed suicide than in 1994.

Iceland had 10.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.58 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Iceland, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 27 recorded suicide cases in 1995, 22 were men suicides and 5 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.4 per 100,000 men and for women 3.7 per 100,000 female.
