Number of suicides falls in Iceland

In 1992 occurred 28 suicides in Iceland. This year, 9 fewer people committed suicide than in 1991.

Iceland had 10.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.38 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Iceland, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 28 recorded suicide cases in 1992, 23 were men suicides and 5 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.6 per 100,000 men and for women 3.8 per 100,000 female.
