Number of suicides falls in Iceland

In 1989 occurred 22 suicides in Iceland. This year, 13 fewer people committed suicide than in 1988.

Iceland had 8.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 14.93 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Iceland, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 22 recorded suicide cases in 1989, 16 were men suicides and 6 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.6 per 100,000 men and for women 4.8 per 100,000 female.
