Hungary has a very high suicide rate

In 1994 occurred 3,625 suicides in Hungary. This year, 69 fewer people committed suicide than in 1993. In 1994, on average 10 Hungarians committed suicide every day.

Hungary had 35 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.83 suicides per 100,000 people.

Hungary has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 3,625 recorded suicide cases in 1994, 2,727 were men suicides and 898 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 55.1 per 100,000 men and for women 16.6 per 100,000 female In spite of this, it is the country with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Hungary suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 313 homicides in Hungary, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 11.6 suicides.
