Hungary has the highest suicide rate in the world

In 1992 around 4,000 suicides occurred in Hungary, 7 more than in 1991. In 1992, on average 11 Hungarians committed suicide every day.

Hungary reported 38.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.38 suicides per 100,000 people.

Hungary has the highest suicide rate in the world.

Of the 4,000 recorded suicide cases in 1992, 2,939 were men suicides and 1,061 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 59.1 per 100,000 men and for women 19.7 per 100,000 female In spite of this, it is the country with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Hungary suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 305 homicides in Hungary, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 13.1 suicides.
