Suicides fell in Guatemala

By 2011, suicides in Guatemala increased by 93 people to at 361 suicides

In Guatemala there were 2.41 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Guatemala has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 361 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 241 were men suicides and 120 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 3.35 per 100,000 men and for women 1.63 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Guatemala. However, in Guatemala in 2011 there were there were 5,681 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 15.7 homicides per suicide.
