Greece has a low suicide rate

In 1995 occurred 370 suicides in Greece. This year, 15 more people committed suicide than in 1994. In Greece, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Greece had 3.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.58 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Greece has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 370 recorded suicide cases in 1995, 306 were men suicides and 64 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.8 per 100,000 men and for women 1.2 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Greece suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 151 homicides in Greece, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.5 suicides.
