In 2010 around 10,030 suicides occurred in Germany, 406 more than in 2009. In 2010, on average 27 Germans committed suicide every day.
Germany reported 12.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.89 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 10,030 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 7,471 were men suicides and 2,559 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 18.6 per 100,000 men and for women 6.1 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Germany suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 793 homicides in Germany, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 12.6 suicides.
