Suicides decreased in Georgia

In 2011 around 256 suicides occurred in Georgia, 9 less than in 2010.

Georgia reported 5.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 256 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 208 were men suicides and 49 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.68 per 100,000 men and for women 2.08 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Georgia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 187 homicides in Georgia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.4 suicides.
