France has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 11,403 recorded suicide cases in 1990, 8,178 were men suicides and 3,225 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 28.8 per 100,000 men and for women 10.78 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In France suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,355 homicides in France, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.4 suicides.
