Finland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,397 recorded suicide cases in 1993, 1,106 were men suicides and 291 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 44.9 per 100,000 men and for women 11.2 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Finland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 130 homicides in Finland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 10.7 suicides.
