Estonia has a very high suicide rate

In 1995 occurred 595 suicides in Estonia. This year, 20 fewer people committed suicide than in 1994. In Estonia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Estonia had 41.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.58 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 595 recorded suicide cases in 1995, 467 were men suicides and 128 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 70.2 per 100,000 men and for women 16.6 per 100,000 female In spite of this, it is the country with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 246 homicides in Estonia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.4 suicides.
