Estonia has a very high suicide rate

By 1994, suicides in Estonia increased by 36 people to at 615 suicides In Estonia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Estonia there were 42.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.83 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 615 recorded suicide cases in 1994, 497 were men suicides and 118 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 73.2 per 100,000 men and for women 15.1 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 302 homicides in Estonia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2 suicides.
