Estonia has a very high suicide rate

In 1991 occurred 427 suicides in Estonia. This year, 1 fewer people committed suicide than in 1990. In Estonia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Estonia had 27.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.11 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 427 recorded suicide cases in 1991, 319 were men suicides and 108 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 43.7 per 100,000 men and for women 13 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 119 homicides in Estonia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.6 suicides.
