Estonia has a very high suicide rate

By 1990, suicides in Estonia increased by 19 people to at 428 suicides In Estonia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Estonia there were 27.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 14.95 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 428 recorded suicide cases in 1990, 310 were men suicides and 118 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 42.2 per 100,000 men and for women 14.1 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 118 homicides in Estonia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.6 suicides.
