Estonia has a very high suicide rate

In 1989 occurred 409 suicides in Estonia. This year, 27 more people committed suicide than in 1988. In Estonia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Estonia had 26.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 14.93 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 409 recorded suicide cases in 1989, 289 were men suicides and 120 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 39.4 per 100,000 men and for women 14.4 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
