Denmark had 24.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 14.95 suicides per 100,000 people.
Denmark has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,241 recorded suicide cases in 1990, 815 were men suicides and 426 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 32.2 per 100,000 men and for women 16.3 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Denmark suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 41 homicides in Denmark, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 30.3 suicides.
