In 2012 around 1,692 suicides occurred in the Czech Republic, 70 more than in 2011. In 2012, on average 5 Czechs committed suicide every day.
the Czech Republic reported 15.88 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.87 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 1,692 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 1,410 were men suicides and 282 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 26.93 per 100,000 men and for women 5.22 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In the Czech Republic suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 105 homicides in the Czech Republic, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 16.1 suicides.
